D.O.P.E. (Diasporic Opportunities for Policy and Empowerment/Economics) is a group of phenomenal Black, Indigenous, Asian, Latinx, and other People of Color advocates that work in the arts and culture sector in the United States. This group strives for liberation in the sector through advocacy, collectivism, support, resource sharing, and national building.

Equitable Funding & Cultural Infrastructure

We believe equity requires more than representation. It requires the redistribution of resources, power, and opportunity.

Our work advances policies and practices that:

• Expand public, private, and philanthropic investment in BIPOC artists, organizations, and communities.

• Create reparative funding models that address historic inequities.

• Increase access to affordable creative spaces, arts education, mentorship, and professional development.

• Protect and preserve BIPOC cultural heritage, intellectual property, and community histories.

• Advance artist wellness through trauma-informed policies, equitable workplaces, and sustainable careers.

• Build financial security through fair compensation, wealth-building, healthcare, retirement planning, and AI and intellectual property literacy.

• Strengthen community power through grassroots organizing, leadership development, and civic participation.

• Build cross-sector coalitions that advance collective liberation and transformative cultural policy.
